从英语构词看英语词的理据性

摘　　要：历来人们对语言词汇的产生与发展持迥然相异的态度。有的认为,词汇的创造是任意的,有的认为是习惯性的,有的认为是有理据的。本文从英语构词的角度,以语言实例为基础,对英语词的理据性作一探讨。Strikingly different views about the origin and development of vocabulary of language have long been established. Some believe that the creation of vocabulary is arbitrary; some believe, however, that it is conventional, while some hold that it is motivated. In view of the ways of word-formation and their actual use in English,a probe is done to reveal the motivation of its vocabulary.
