Effects of Fructo-oligosaccharide and Sodium Propionate on Cholesterol Metabolism of Finishing Pigs

摘  要:将72头体重45kg左右的杜长加肥育猪按饲养试验要求分成3组,每组设三个重复,每个重复8 头,分别饲喂添加0、1.5%低聚果糖、1%丙酸钠的饲粮45天。饲养试验结束后,从每组选出体重相近的8头 猪(公母猪各半)屠宰。结果表明:(1)添加1.5%低聚果糖和1%丙酸钠均使血清中总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白胆 固醇显著降低,使高密度脂蛋白/低密度脂蛋白胆固醇的比率显著提高;(2)添加1.5%低聚果糖和1%丙酸钠 均使肝脏中3-羟基-3-甲基戊二酰辅酶A(HMG-CoA)还原酶活性显著降低;(3)添加1.5%低聚果糖使 结肠中乙酸、丙酸、丁酸和血清中乙酸含量显著提高;添加1%丙酸钠对结肠和血清中短链挥发性脂肪酸含量 均没有显著影响。研究结果提示:低聚果糖降胆固醇的作用机理和其发酵产物丙酸抑制肝脏胆固醇合成有关, 这为丙酸介导低聚果糖的降胆固醇作用提供了理论依据。A total of 72 finishing pigs (Duroc×Landrance×Jia) were randomly allocated to three groups. Each group was replicated three times with eight pigs per replicate. The three groups received the same basal corn-soybean meal diet with addition of 0%, or 1.5% fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS), or 1% sodium propionate, respectively. At the end of the feeding trial, eight pigs from each treatment were slaughtered. The results are as follows: (1) Pigs fed 1.5% FOS or 1% sodium propionate have significantly lower serum cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations and greater ratios of high density lipoprotein / low density lipoprotein cholesterol compared with the control. (2) Supplementation with 1.5% FOS or 1% sodium propionate significantly decreases the activity of hepatic 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutary coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. (3) Supplementation with l.5% FOS significantly increases the concentrations of colonic acetate, propionate, and butyrate, and the concentration of serum acetate. Supplementation with sodium propionate has no significant effects on the colonic or serum short-chain acid concentrations. The results of this study suggest that one mechanism for the hypo-cholesterolemic effect of FOS could be related to the absorbed propionate, a metabolic product of FOS fermentation, which inhibit hepatic cholesterol synthesis by decreasing the activity of HMG-CoA reductase.
