摘　　要：文章就英汉两种语言的句法特征———形合和意合进行了分析说明,并着重指出英语重形合汉语重意合的特点和原因,以便英语学习者自觉尊重中西各自的语言事实,深入、准确地把握和运用英汉两种语言。This article mainly analyses the syntactic characteristics——hypotaxis and parataxis respectively in English and Chinese, and points out the fact that hypotaxis prevails in the English language, while parataxis does in Chinese ,so that the English learners will comprehend and voluntarily respect the language facts existing in the two languages. Therefore, they can grasp and use the two languages correctly.
