【Objective】To investigate the changes of the nerve growth factor inducilble-B(NGFI-B) gene mRNA expression in prefrontal cortex and striatum of SHR/WKY rats, an animal model of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), and to analyze the relationship between the NGFI-B and the pathophysiology of ADHD. Six weeks old SHR rats were used for ADHD model, and same old WKY rats were used for the control group. Each group had 8 rats. The expressive levels of NGFI-B in the PFC and striatum of SHR /WKY rats were verified by using RT-PCR technique. The levels of NGFI-B gene mRNA expression (123.13±14.36)% in the prefrontal cortex of SHR were significantly higher than those (45.14±7.79)% of WKY rats ( P <0.01). The levels of NGFI-B gene mRNA expression (79.01±8.67)% in the striatum of SHR rat were significantly higher than those (36.66±6.83)% of WKY rats ( P <0.01). [Conclusion] The higher expression of NGFI-B in the SHR rats may be one of the important pathophysiological bases for ADHD.
