Objective To investigate the relationship between aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase (AHH) inducibility and susceptibility of lung cancer.?Methods BA as a carcinogen was used to induce the expression of AHH in the lymphocytes collected from 44 lung cancer patients and 24 non-tumor patients. The level of AHH was measured directly according to Dong et al.?Results ①The frequency distribution of AHH inducibility was different between lung cancer patients and control patients(P<0.01).The relative risk of developing lung cancer (in odds ratio, OR) was 7.00-fold higher in the patients with high AHH inducibility than in those with low AHH inducibility (95%CI 1.34-27.25).②The AHH inducibility was not related to the histopathology of the lung cancer.③Cigarette smoking increased the risk of developing lung cancer. The OR in smoking high AHH inducibility patients was 9.00-fold higher than in non-smoking low AHH inducibility patients (95%CI 1.07-75.90).?Conclusion ①AHH inducibility varies between individuals. It correlates with the risk of developing lung cancer.②High AHH inducibility, especially alongside cigarette smoking, raises the risk of developing lung squamous cell carcinoma.
