摘　　要：本文通过说明Smalltalk-80系统的特点与内部结构,来阐明我们在VAX/8600上开发该系统的基本途径。从这个基本途径可以体现工具与环境在开发过程中的地位和作用,最后着重说明Smalltalk-80系统中开发工具和环境的设计思想和实现方案。This article expounds a basic way for developing Smalltalk-80 system on VAX/8600 system by explaining the characteristics of the system and its inner construction. The way can reflect the position and effect of the tool and environment on the course of developing. We finally stress the basic idea and design scheme of the ~ool and environment in the Smalltalk-80 system.
