摘　　要：文章从翻译过程中语义的判断和选择行为入手,探讨语境的定义和种类,通过分类举例着重说明语境对语义的制约,并以此证明语境作为语义判断和选择的依据,是具体的、可操作的范畴。Upon a tentative endeavor of describing the process of word meaning discernment and selection and defining and classifying context, this thesis focuses its expository attention on contextual constraints on word meaning and their influence on meaning discernment and selection. It concludes that context, as the basis of word meaning discernment and selection, is a tangible and maneuverable category.
