摘　　要：《达洛维太太》中的大本钟意象象征了主人公达洛维太太对时间、自我以及生命的独特经验,也是现代性宿命的典型表征,代表了文学中较早出现的存在主义思潮。达洛维太太藉以消解自我存在困境的良方妙药,主要是强烈的举办晚会的热情、与家庭教师基尔曼小姐争夺女儿精神世界的心理角力以及还乡的情结。The image of Big Ben stands for Mrs. Dalloway's unique experience about time, identity and life. As a typical symbol for modern fate, the Big Ben points to the early trend of existentialism in literature. In order to relieve herself from her existentialist predicaments, Mrs. Dalloway submerges herself in sponsoring parties, vying with the governess for the right to control the inner world of her daughter, and her indulgence in nostalgia.
