Objective To study the effect of Lead, Cadmium, Calcium, zinc, copper and iron on infant behavior problems. Methods We selected 206 infants(2 -3 years old ) in Chizhou city, Anhui province by stratified sampiing. We tested their behavior problems with Achenbach child behavior checklist(CBCL) and investigated them with our questionnaire. Meanwhile, we assayed the levels of the six metal elements in blood of infants, with the instrument of PE-AA800 Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Results ① In the 206 infants, the prevatence of abnormal behavior problems is 12.6%. ② There was positive association between the content of blood Cadmium and the score of attack in infants ( β = 0. 178, P 〈 0. 05 ) , while the score of depression was negatively correlated with infants blood Calcium( β = -0. 173 ,P 〈0. 05). ③The multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the score of sleep, destructivity, extraversion, total score were positively correlated with infant BLL, respectively. And the scores of six factors ( attack, destructivity, extraversion et al) in the HBL( high blood level) group were much higher than those in NBL( nomal blood level) ( P 〈 0. 05 ). Conclusion Our study suggests that infant behavior problems are associated with the contents of their blood lead, cadmium, calcium.
