摘 要:When discussing the tradition of ancient Chinese philosophy the intellectual community tends to focus their attention on the diachronic historical sources and pay less attention to the spatial regional characteristics. In ancient China communications were not developed and the dissemination of philosophical knowledge was greatly restricted by geographical conditions. Moreover, the spread of ancient philosophical knowledge depended mainly on private tutoring, much like the handing down of handicraft skills. Therefore, different schools of philosophy with regional traditions evolved with flourishing lecturing places (academies of classical learning during the Song and Ming dynasties and afterwards) as their centers. The formation of various schools of thought during pre-Qin times was closely linked with regional cultural traditions.
