摘　　要：在非英语专业研究生给定题目类的英语作文训练中,提纲以及理解提纲占有重要位置。那么研究生们对这一问题的看法又怎样呢?为此,作者让研究生写了数篇带有题目和提纲的作文,继而让他们写了一篇以“提纲”为题的作文,对所带班级学生所写的作文进行考察,发现研究生往往对提纲缺乏正确的认识,导致作文离题现象比较严重。本文试图对研究生作文中的提纲理解问题加以探讨,以期引起研究生及研究生英语指导老师足够的重视,使研究生写出切题的作文。An outline and the correct understanding of the outline are of vital importance for graduate students of non- English majors in English writing, But my research with the graduate students in writing reveals that some students are hardly aware of the definition and functions of ＂the outline＂. This paper endeavors to give a thorough understanding of the concept of ＂the outline＂ and draw attention of both graduate students and their teachers to ＂outline＂, and to help the graduate students write compositions according to the outline given.
