摘　　要：美国内战前的城市教育随着经济的发展逐渐形成、演进。在这一过程中出现了很多问题,这些问题的根源在于美国城市的多样性、阶层之间的不平等以及城市中的宗教和种族问题等。为此,教育改革者们进行了许多努力,但是城市教育中的问题在内战前并未得到很好的解决。American cities＇ education had taken its shape and evoluted with the economic development before the Civil War. In the progress, it produced some problems, the origins of which were American cities＇ diversification and inequality among different social classes as well as religious and racial problems. Educational reformers tried to solve the problems which remained unsolved before the civil war.
