摘  要:语言教学应注重培养学生的语言交际能力、培养学生跨文化交流的意识和能力,应以语用知识的传授为重心,以语用能力的培养为宗旨。英语情态助动词是外语教学和学习中最为复杂的内容之一,所以以英语专业学生对情态动词的理解和运用情况为例来说明英语教学中语用分析的必要性。Language teaching should aim at developing the students' pragmatic competence. So it is very important for the teachers to fos. ter the linguistic and communicative competence, the awareness and competence of intercultural communication of the students in class. Teaching and learning English modal verb is one of the most complicated and difficuh parts in language teaching. This paper makes a tentative study of the necessity of applying pragmatic analysis in English teaching by the survey on the understanding and application of English modal verb among the English majors.
