摘　　要：6月7～8日,2006年普通高等学校招生全国统一考试(即高考)在全国同时进行。3个月后,又一批学子即将踏入被称为“象牙塔”的大学校园进行四年乃至更长时间的学习。台湾作家张小娴曾在她的孩子上学的第一天,望着孩子的背影,忍不住发问:“世界啊,今天我把一个孩子给了你,若干年后,你会还给我一个怎样的孩子呀?”看似简单的一个问题,对于今天的中国高等教育,不容乐观的现实要给出一个明确的答案并非易事。During the past twenty years, the tuition of colleges increased by2500%. From 1998 to 2002, the sundry fees of college increased by534%, while the average income of Chinese people only increasedby less than 400% from 1994 to this year. The rise of tuition farexceeded the rise of people’s income. And the Chinese government’s inputof education each year is both lees than that of those developed countriesand the developing countries.
