摘　　要：《永别了,武器》这部小说从结构上来说,其五个部分便是莎士比亚“五幕剧”的悲剧形式。为使小说的悲剧气氛更浓,海明威采用了多种策略。其中最为突出的是象征的预示作用,一连串的灾难性象征通过“雨”这个字眼贯穿于小说的始终,预示着主人公一个接一个的悲剧。比如动物形象在海明威的笔下就不仅仅是个烘托气氛、表现思想内容的道具,它们还具有独立的审美价值。作者从动物的角度来描写人物性格与心理,使这部小说产生了一种全新的、动人的美。As far as the structure of A Farewell to Arms is concerned,its five parts can be seen as a five -act tragedy of Shakespeare. In this novel Hemingway employs diverse strategies to strengthen the tragic atmosphere. Among them the most outstanding is symbolism. A series of disasters come on from the beginning to the end and they are connected with ＂rain＂. The tragedies come to the heroes successively,and each of them comes just before each symbol. For example, the animal symbols not only suggest tools to enforce the atmosphere and convey the theme, but also provide the special value for our esthetic sense. The author depicts the character and psychology of the heroes from the prospective of animals. And that raises a kind of beauty,which is all new and moving.
