Optimum allocation of design requirements (reliability, weight, cost, etc. ) has been and is a key problem in aircraft conceptual design. A good allocation of design requirements can shorten design cycle, improve performance and reduce cost. In this paper, a new method of collaborative allocation (CA) was proposed to solve large-scale optimum allocation and mathematical model were established. According problems in aircraft conceptual design. Its principle to allocation relationship, an initial optimum allocation problem is partitioned into one main optimization problem and several sub-optimization problems. A group of design requirements of subsystems is provided by the main system separately, and the subsystems execute their own optimizations or further provide detailed design requirements to bottom components of aircrafts, such as spares, ribs and skins, etc. The subsystems minimize the discrepancy among their own local variables, computed state variablcs and thc main system target. The main optimization is pefformed to reallocate design requirements for improving system performance and progress toward compatibility among sub-systems. A reliability optimum allocation instance was used to describe the mathematical model and solutions of CA and to preliminarily validate its correctness and effectiveness. It is concluded that CA is a relatively general flame for optimum allocation ; it is easily extended to resolve various types of optimum allocation problems.
