Aim : To investigate the expression of Survivin and p53 gene and their relations with tumor angiogenesis in colorectal carcinoma tissue. Methods: Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of Survivin and P53 and microvessel density (MVD) in 51 cases of colorectal carcinoma. Results: The positive expressions of Survivin and P53 were correlated with histologic differentiation and Dukes stage(P 〈 0.05 ). The MVD in subgroups of survivin( + ) (36.56±7.81) and P53( + )(35.44 ±10.42) were significantly higher than those in Survivin( - )(19.81 ±9.27)and P53( -)(22.17 ±9.54)(P〈0.05),respectively. MVD in the subgroup of both Survivin( +)and P53( + ) (39.78 ± 7.88) was significantly higher than those in the other subgroups ( P 〈 0.05 ). Survivin expression was positively correlated with P53 expression( r = 0. 957 ,P 〈 0.05 ) , and MVD was correlated with both Survivin and P53 expression( r = 0. 787, P 〈0.05 ), Conclusion: Survivin and P53 gene play a key role in the development of colorectal carcinoma, and correlate with the tumor angiogenesis.
