摘　　要：我国西部地区由于自然条件较差,工业和高新技术发展缓慢,支柱产业主要以农业为主,这些客观因素一直制约着西部省区的经济发展。党中央、国务院在世纪之交做出西部大开发的重大决策,为西部发展提供了良好机遇。面对西部大开发的良好锲机,成人教育独特的教育体制和资源在促进西部经济发展中必将展示得天独厚的优势。In terms of industry and high-tech, China＇s western region is underdeveloped with agriculture as its pillar industry, due to the poor natural conditions and scarce mineral resources. These unfavorable subjective factors have been limiting the economic development of China＇s western provinces and autonomous regions. The central government＇s strategy for developing the western region has provided a unique opportunity to boost the western area＇s adult education.
