摘　　要：华兹生英译《史记》在向西方普通读者介绍《史记》方面取得了重要成就，40多年来，享誉学术界．探讨华译《史记》的叙事结构特征及其基础，并分析其社会历史渊源对于我国学界今天英译历史典籍的策略定位具有重要意义．Records of the Grand Historian translated by Burton Watson played a significant role in introducing Shift to the general western readership,and has been acclaimed as a masterpiece ever since it was published more than 40 years ago. Exploring the narrative features of his translation and their social and historical background would be quite enlightening to the Chinese ,scholars as to the choice of strategies in translating the Chinese historical classies into English.
