摘  要:在中国现代大学管理制度中建立和运行的教授委员会制,是在中国社会主义市场经济体制逐渐完善、高校宏观管理体制改革逐步深入的大背景下,对高校学术运行机制和内部管理体制所做的开创性尝试。中国的教授委员会制的本质是“教授治学”,体现了现代大学制度建设的核心,即追求学术本位的价值取向,尊重知识,尊重人才,使教授拥有学术权力,实现学术自由、学术自主。笔者阐述了“教授治校”与“教授治学”的发展历程;“教授治学”的内涵;“教授治学”的本质以及“教授治学”的保障机制,阐明“教授治学”是教授委员会的本质。Established and implemented under the control of Chinese modern university managerial system, the Professor Committee System is an innovative attempt on the college academic performance mechanism and the internal managerial system in the context of the gradual improvement on market economic system and the further reform on college macro - managerial system. The essence of Chinese Professor Committee System is professors' taking charge of academic study, which embodies the core and the keystone of modern college's system construction, that is, pursuing the value orientation of academic study itself, respecting knowledge, respecting talents, and entitling professors with academic authority so as to achieve academic liberty and academic independence. The essay mainly expounds the developmental process of professors' taking charge of the college and the academic study, the connotation, the essence and the guarantee mechanism of professors' taking charge of academic study. It also concludes that professors' taking charge of academic study is the essence of Professor Committee System.
