摘 要:尽管社会历史背景和文化背景不同,《雷雨》和《进入黑夜的漫长旅程》都反映出相同的悲剧意识,触及了普遍意义上的悲剧主题,如个人的孤独,分裂的自我,神秘命运观(古希腊悲剧传统),遗传与环境决定悲剧命运(过去就是现在),以及人生的徒劳感。然而,两个悲剧由于剧作家所处的社会文化环境的差异和个人经历的差别,又各有其特点。《雷雨》中体现出的因果报应观念,是一种典型的中国社会传统观念;而尤金.奥尼尔的《进入黑夜的漫长旅程》自传性质很强。两个悲剧分别带有各自的民族特色和时代特征,却都反映了共同的悲剧人生观:人生是一场悲剧。Despite their differences in social, historical and cultural backgrounds, Thunderstorm and Long Day's Journey into Night share the same tragic vision by touching upon the universal tragic themes such as human loneliness and isolation, the suffering of split self, the mystery of fate ( tradition of Greek tragedies ), tragic fate determined by heredity and environment ( past is present ) and the futility of human existence. However, the two tragedies differ in various aspects due to the different social and cultural backgrounds of the two playwrights, and also their personal experiences. The idea of retribution ( Karma ) implied by Thunderstorm is very characteristic of the Chinese thinking; while Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night is highly autobiographical. Each reflects the national and social characteristic of its own, and both express the idea that life is a tragedy.
