Objective To study the status quo of sub-health of nurses in comprehensive hospitals and related influencing factors. Methods One hundred and eight nurses from comprehensive hospitals were investigated by using the Sub-health Screening Scale, Work Stressor Scale and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire. Results Sixty-two nurses (57.41%) were in the status of sub-health, which was manifested by physical and mental symptoms. The score of work pressure in sub-healthy nurses was 42.10±24.10, which was significantly higher than that of healthy nurses (22.60±21.80, P〈0.01). In sub-healthy nurses, the stressor included work responsibility, the tedium of work and lack of sense of achievement. The score of negative coping in the sub-healthy nurses was 0.95!0.64, which was significantly lower than that of norm (1.59± 0.66, P〈0.01). Conclusion The sub-health status is common among the nurses working in comprehensive hospitals. They tend to face greater pressure, have a variety of stressor. Most nurses cope with the pressures positively. Attention should be paid to the physical and mental health of nurses to ensure the quality of their work.
