关于“外国语言学及应用语言学”的思考

摘　　要：本文对“外国语言学及应用语言学”这个说法进行思考。首先对语言学的分类进行简单的回顾，把“理论语言学”和“应用语言学”、“普通语言学”和“个别语言学”进行简单的区分，接着对与本文讨论有关的中国语言学研究的状况做了简单的勾画，然后讨论了“外国语言学及应用语言学”的概念及其英译文，最后从学科的设置与人才的分类角度探讨语言学界经常谈起的“两张皮”问题。文章认为，“外国语言学”应该是在中国境内除了汉语语言学以外的多个“个别语言学”的概括说法；目前汉语界和外语界两股力量在语言学研究方面之所以汇合不力，是因为大多数人都在从事个别语言学研究，忽视了对普通语言学的研究。The aim of this paper is to examine and interpret the term ＂linguistics abroad and linguistics applied＂ within the Chinese context of linguistic studies and foreign language teaching. It is argued that the interpretation and translation of this term should be considered in relation to studies in particular linguistics such as English Linguistics and Chinese Linguistics. The paper also discusses the reasons why Chinese Linguistics scholars and English Linguistics scholars do not work together to study general linguistics issues.
