摘　　要：通过对英语报刊新闻中的新词、旧词新义、外来词和缩略词等进行分析研究,旨在阐明英语报刊新闻特色词造词灵活、新颖时尚、简练达意、来源广泛等特点,以求引起对其在新闻文体中和在英语写作中重要性的认识。English newspapers and periodicals are rich with various kinds of words, among which characteristic words are emerging one after another. Through analyzing and studying new - made words, common words with different meanings, loanwords and abbreviations, the thesis aims at expounding their characteristics of flexible, fashionable, concise but expressive, and broad origin. Thus, the recognition of the importance in the English news and common writing can be emphasized.
