Oan.g n&oladan formadon and it is concluded that the upper partoftheChangxing formation is of pelagic fades. This conclusion comes from the following points: 1.TheupperpartoftheChangxingformation was developed in a kind of sea-basin sedimentation by the tudy in the tudy on the characteristics of the radiolan. fauna of this fomadon. 2The water depth in later Changxing period should be at least deeper than .200m in order to satisfy the sasfhy the paanktonic living habit of this radiolanan fauna of the formation, which is certified by the study on the distribution of modem radiolarian in oceans. 3 . The radiolarian fauna of Changxing formation is thought to live in a pelagic or hemipelagic enviromnent by compasring them witiolan of Palaeozoic in a worldwide scope
