摘　　要：最近有些大城市出台了街道路牌书写的地方法规,有些地方法规与国家有关的法律法规和联合国的有关决议不符。本文试图追溯这种混乱状况的根源,并呼吁政府有关部门依法行事。Some of China's major cities have issued local regulations concerning the alphabetical system of writing for geographical names without heeding relevant national laws and/or UN resolutions. This paper traces some problematic local practices to their origins and calls on the authorities concerned to abide by what has been stipulated as the national and the international standards.
