Objective To study clinical significance of PCNALI, Ki - 67, PR, VEGF in predicting the recurrence of meningiomas after tumor removal and relation to the histological features. By detecting the expression of cell proliferating nucler antigen labelling index ( PCNALI ), Ki - 67 labelling index ( Ki - 67 LI ), progesterone receptor ( PR ) and vessel endothelium growth factor (VEGF). Methods Specimens of 56 patients with meningioma were detected for the expression of PCNA, Ki - 67, PR, and VEGF with immunohistochemistry method. The positive expression of PCNA, Ki - 67,PR, VEGF and the interaction between them were statistically analyzed. Results The PCNALI significantly differed in the relapsing group compared to the stable group (P 〈 0. 01 ). The Ki -67 LI also was higher in the relapsing group than in the stable group ( P 〈0. 05). In the 30 cases of recurrence meningiomas ,7 cases were positive of PR, 13 cases were positive of VEGF. Conclusion Highter positive expression rate of the PCNALI and Ki -67 LI,lower rate expression of PR, the recurrence of the tumor was increased, VEGF was not correlated with the recurrence of meningiomas. If the meningioma was anaplastic.
