摘　　要：《了不起的盖茨比》是一部具有强烈的现实意义和悲剧色彩的作品。通过挖掘和分析小说中作者在人物、色彩两方面象征手法的熟练运用,讨论了小说家赋予这些象征实体的深刻内涵,阐释了小说中的象征手法在人物形象的塑造、故事情节的发展,以及作品主题的深化等方面所起到的举足轻重的作用。The Great Gatsby, is a work with strong practical significance and tragic flavor. This paper, through extracting and analyzing the skillful employment of symbolism in aspects of characters and colors in the novel, discusses the deep connotation that is imparted to these symbolic entities by the novelist and explains the decisive role of the symbolism in the novel in shaping the figures, developing the plot of the story, and deepening the theme of the work.
