摘　　要：为了探讨学界对严复自由思想不同的研究路径,择取有代表性之文献,采用对其内在理路进行比较分析的方法,认为严复的自由观是由中西文化构成之复合体,在研究中力图以一种视角、一种模式取代其他并非完整。严复对自由的理解既有对西方思想中消极自由的发现,也有对传统中积极自由的发明。严复对西方自由思想的理解有其主体性与创造性的自觉——他是在中西文化的"交融互释"中进行着转化与创造。The researches on Yanfu＇s liberty theory present different exploring approaches. Through comparative analysis of the representative researches,it is found that Yanfu＇s liberty theory is the combination of eastern and western cultures, therefore the analysis methods and angles still need to perfect. The indication is that Yanfu＇s compre- hension of liberty can be characterized as special interpretation which not only shows his find in western thought but also embodies his efforts of developing the values of traditional culture. Yanfu＇s comprehension on liberty experienced transformation and innovation.
