摘　　要：美国南方独特的历史背景及地域特色,使之成为哥特小说繁衍生息的沃土,哥特小说以其特有的风格,揭露历史与社会所犯下罪恶的极其可怕的后果,给读者以振聋发聩的阅读效果,所以倍受南方作家的青睐。The main feature of Gothic novels lies in American southern novelists found gothic novels an its mystery, horror, absurdity and superficial facts. ideal media to reveal the wrongs of the whites and the terrible consequences. Thus they have written many gothic novels in order to stimulate the readers and reveal the evils of the society.
