A new approach to subject-verb agreement in English

摘　　要：基于HPSG的指标一致观,试图结合句法、语义和语用来解释一致关系,认为主谓间的一致关系是通过主语的指标值和谓语动词选择的名词短语的指标值结构共享来实现的。在指标一致观基础上提出的整合观在理论和操作上更加完善,但是需要更多语言事实来检验。最后,指出了综合语言的不同方面来解释复杂的英语一致现象的重要性。HPSG-based Index Agreement which attempts to incorporate syntax, semantics and pragmatics holds that subject-verb agreement is the structure-sharing between the index value of the subject and that of the NP the verb selects. Hybrid Agreement is a more scientific analysis in terms of its theory and applications, but it remains to be examined by more linguistic evidences. Finally, this paper presents the importance of the interaction of different components of natural language in accounting for complex English agreement phenomena.
