摘　　要：本文结合语言学界对指示和照应的发现,探讨了that作为指示和照应手段的若干方面的用法:如作为人称指示、时间指示、空间指示、前照应、后照应、语境照应,并且结合具体实例对这些方面进行了系统阐述。This article aims to discuss the many aspects of usages of THAT as a means of deixis and reference, with the reference of the discovery of deixis and reference by the linguistic. It includes： personal deixis, temporal deixis, spatial deixis, cataphoric reference, anaphoric reference, situational reference, and many examples are illustrated respectively.
