摘　　要：ARPA是用于避碰的主要仪器,对减少船舶碰撞发挥了重要作用。由于工作原理和设备性能等方面的原因,ARPA的功能还存在一定的局限性,船舶驾驶员如果完全信任和依赖ARPA进行避碰操作,就可能危及船舶的航行安全。船舶驾驶员应了解ARPA的局限性,正确使用其功能,才能保证航行安全。ARPA, as the main navigation aid, plays the important role for the prevention of the ship＇s collision. ARPA has limitation in the principle and instrument function, if the officer handles the ship to prevent the collision on the basis of trust and reliance on the ARPA, the navigation safety would be dangerous. The officer should know the limitation of the ARPA and use the ARPA correctly to ensure the navigation safety.
