情感瘫痪主题的突显——谈《阿拉比》和《伊芙琳》

摘　　要：詹姆斯.乔伊斯在他的短篇小说集《都柏林人》中着力刻画人物的精神世界。从背景、情节、以及人物塑造这几个小说主要构成要素的角度,分析了其中两篇,《阿拉比》和《伊芙琳》,来试图解释其中的主题是如何通过这些要素的呈现突显出来的。同时,隐喻和反复在背景描写中的运用以及作为刻画人物方法之一的视角转换在人物塑造中的运用都为情感瘫痪这个主题的突显起到了一定的作用。James Joyee foeused on the portrayal of the eharaeters＇ inner world, in his eolleetion of short stories, Dubliners. In this paper, two of the stories in Dubliners, Araby and Eveline will be diseussed together from the perspeetive of setting, plot, and eharaeterization. At the same time, the use of metaphor and repetition in deseribing setting and the shift of point of viewas a means of characterization are also analyzed to manifest the theme-paralysis in emotion.
