摘　　要：《远离尘嚣》表现了一个女性的悲剧。对巴丝谢芭从一个独立、自信的新潮女性回归到驯顺、平庸的大众女子这一轨迹进行分析,可以看出这出悲剧根源于作者所处的时代及作家本人思想上的局限。Within his work Far From The Madding Crowd, Thomas Hardy depicted a tragic shift Bathsheba had experienced throughout her life. This dissertation is firstly devoted to make clear how Bathsheba, a once confident, independent, and avant-garde lady, degenerated into an obedient, ordinary woman, just as characterless as any other woman in her time. It continues to conclude that the tragic shift originates from the ideological limitation of the author himself and as well is undetachable with the specific era he was born into.
