摘　　要：Player以前仅指从事体育运动或参加娱乐活动的人,而现在经常用来指参与经济活动的公司或竞争者。文章从翻译实例入手,分析了player一词以及相关短语在商业、经济和政治领域语用环境下所产生的语用义,并且对如何借助上下文准确理解词的语用意义和作出恰当的选择进行了探讨。＂Player＂ was formerly referred to simply as a person who engages in sports or entertainments, however, it frequently refers to a company or competitor who is involved in economic activities nowadays. By way of examples in translation practice, this paper illustrates the pragmatic meanings of ＂player＂ and the related phrases used in areas of business, economy and politics, and discusses how to get the precise understanding and appropriate translation in the context.
