摘　　要：哈代的长篇小说《卡斯特桥市长》,反映了资本主义经济对宗法制农村的侵袭以及在这个过程中传统的家庭伦理所受到的巨大冲击。亨察德与苏珊的夫妻伦理从迷失到回归的过程,也是亨察德接受伦理惩罚并进行自我救赎的过程;亨察德与伊丽莎白-简的父女关系从最初的隔膜到中间的疏远到最后的和解,体现了家庭伦理对家庭关系的维系作用和对人的精神世界的救赎功能。这种家庭伦理既反映了维多利亚时代的道德风貌,也体现了作者对道德理想的诉求。Thomas Hardy＇ s novel The Mayor of Casterbridge reflects the invasion of capitalist economy upon British rural patriarchal clan society and the great impact on the traditional family ethics in social transformation period. The regression of the conjugal ethics between Henchard and Susan from bewilderment actually re- flects the process of Henchard＇ s reception of ethical punishment and that of his self-salvation. The conflict, alienation and reconcilement of the father-daughter relationship between Henchard and Elizabeth-Jane embody the ftmction of family ethics which not only hold the family together, but also provide salvation for human spirit. The family ethics are a reflection of Victorian morality and the author＇ s moral pursuit.
