摘　　要：本文采用关联理论在词汇、句法和话语三个层面上探讨认知语境对英谚汉译的制约作用,旨在阐明英谚汉译既是一种"明示-推理"的动态认知活动,又是一种依靠语境建构相关话语信息的求解过程,受到译者的情景知识、语言上下文知识和背景知识及百科知识所建构的认知语境制约。This paper explores the restrictions of cognitive context on the Chinese translation of English proverbs from the three levels of lexis, syntax and discourse with an aim to prove that Chinese translation of English proverbs is not only a dynamic cognitive activity of ostensible inference but also a solving process based on the context to construct relevant discourse information, which are restricted by the cognitive context composed of translators＇ situational, contextual, background and encyclopedic knowledge.
