摘　　要：英语词汇的发展是一个不断丰富的动态过程。本文从社会语言学和文化的角度分析二战后美国英语几类新词的出现、来源及构成,透视美国社会的发展。研究美国英语新词并理解其文化内涵,有利于提高跨文化的交际能力。The development of English vocabulary is a dynamic process marked by contiuous en- richment. This paper is meant to analyse the origin and formation of several types of new words in American English from a social or cultural perspeetive. Insight into the development of American society after WWⅡ via a study into neologism in American English creates a deeper understanding of the cultural connotation of these new words and promotes erosseultural communication competence.
