OBJECTIVE: To summarize the dual-time-point ^18F-FDG PET imaging in evaluation of malignant lesions. METHODS: In this article, PET, FDG, dual-time-point imaging, tumor being the key words, we reviewed the articles published from the databases such as CHKD and PubMed, particularly from 1999 to 2007. We collected 113 articles together, after excluding the articles without relation of this study, we selected the representative focus literature 28 into analysis. RESULTS: Many reports indicated that the utility of dual-time-point imaging and the retention of ^18F-FDG were tested in patients with high sensitivity and specificity for pulmonary nodules, pancreatic cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, cervical cancer and so on. SUV, both initially and over times (for difficult cases) could be useful for staging, restaging and the management of patients with malignant lesions, and also provide a good way to predict the response, survival, and recurrence after the radio-chemotherapy. CONCLUSION: Such studies may improve our knowledge about the change in tumor biology according to the ambient environment and act as a crucial tool to fight against cancer.
