Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of the human hyperplasic suppress gene (HSG) and vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF in colorectal cancer. Methods:Immunohistochemisty was used to observe the expression of HSG and VEGF in normal rectal mucous membrane, benign adenoma and colorectal cancer. Results:The positive rate of HSG and VEGF in normal rectal mucous membrane, benign adenoma and colorectal cancer were respectively 94.2%,74.2%,50.9% and 75.5%, 12.9%,8.1%.Compared with normal rectal mucous membrane and benign adenoma, the HSG expression in colorectal cancer obviously decreased, while the VEGF expression obviously increased (P 〈 0.05).According to TNM stage, the expression of HSG in Ⅲ+Ⅳ stage was 33.3%,which was significantly lower than Ⅰ+Ⅱ stage (P 〈 0.05);the expression of VEGF in Ⅲ+Ⅳ stage was 93.9%,which was significantly higher than Ⅰ+Ⅱ stage (P 〈 0.01).In colorectal cancer, the expression of HSG had obviously negative relations with expression of VEGF (r=-0.367,P 〈 0.05). Conclusions:The expression of HSG and VEGF may have relations with occurrence, development and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
