摘　　要：阅读教学是英语教学的重要途径,文章通过强调阅读对英语学习的重要性,对大部分英语专业低年级学生阅读能力的现状以及不良习惯进行分析和探讨,就如何提高和培养学生的阅读理解能力提出对策:激发阅读兴趣;在课内外创设生动的阅读环境,巩固其阅读兴趣;积累常识,扩大知识面;培养良好的课外阅读习惯;课内指导掌握阅读要领。Reading plays an important part in the teaching of English.This paper analyzes the main problems existing in the English reading competence and habit - forming for English majors, especially for the juniors. On the basis of defining the characteristics of English autonomous learning,it suggests some strategies to foster learner autonomy, such as stimulating the interest of reading, creating the active and vivid reading atmosphere in and after class,accumulating the common knowledge and enlarging the sphere of knowledge,etc.
