Ways to Develop Students' Ability in Vocabulary Learning with the Textbook——the 21st Century Practical College English

摘　　要：笔者根据近几年讲授《21世纪大学实用英语》教材的情况,对个别学生学习英语词汇作了口头调查,发现大多数学生为应付诸如高等学校英语应用能力AB级考试等各种英语考试而过多地偏重记忆英汉词条,忽视课本中词汇学习。通过各种词汇活动,激发学生学习英语词汇兴趣,进而提高学生表达能力和理解能力。According to interviews with some individual students, the author realized that students didntmake full use of our textbooks -the 21st Century Practical College English to enlarge their vocabulary. They feel memorizing words boring and useless and the only motive to remember new words is to pass all kinds of tests. So the author tries to change the way of presenting new words by organizing interesting activities such as acting out, making presentations, doing extensive readings etc. to arouse students＇interest in vocabulary learning, thus to improve their ability in comprehension and communication.
