摘　　要：2008年是工程机械行业群雄逐鹿风云再起的一年，工程机械行业连续爆出龙头企业股权发生变更的消息。行业龙头中联重科在2008年的短短一个星期时间里，完成了3次规模空前的连续并购。卡特彼勒2008年也正式收购山工剩下的60％股份，完成对山工的完全并购。有些企业则因为并购锦上添花、欣欣向荣：有些企业因为并购雪上加霜、江河日下；有些并购似乎毫无效果，显得多此一举，真有点儿“几家欢乐几家愁”的意味。A merger is a tool used by companies for the purpose of expanding their operations often aiming at an increase of their long term profitability. Corporate mergers may be aimed at reducing market competition, cutting costs (for example, laying off employees, operating at a more technologically efficient scale, etc.), reducing taxes, removing management'empire b uildin 'by the a cquiring managers, or other purposes which may or may not be consistent with public policy or public welfare.
