摘　　要：The paper makes a comparative study of A handful of dust and Heart of darkness to show that lies, uncertainty, self-deception and self-delusion lies at the A handful of dust and Heart of darkness. Comparatively speaking, the similarities outweigh the differences in that the respective settings and contrasting environments are indications of the social status and self-examination of the protagnists.
