摘　　要：弗.司哥特.菲茨杰拉德是美国"爵士乐时代"的象征,他的代表作《了不起的盖茨比》告诉我们:以物质追求为目的的"美国梦"是必然破灭的。F. Scott Fitzgerald is often regarded as literary spokesman of the American Jazz Age. His best novel The Great Gatsby indicates that ＂the American Dream＂ which aims at material pursuit is definitely frustrated.
