“人类世”论评--环境领域的“舶来品”，地球科学的新纪元？

摘　　要：整理分析了自2000年以来的相关论著,力图对"人类世"名称的来历、"人类世"提出的背景及数年来学术界的争议内容等进行介绍和评论,希望引起国人对这个可能具有划时代意义的地层学"事件"产生更广泛的关注和更深刻的理解和思考。"人类世"(Anthropocene)这个词,由"人类"和"新(时代)"组合而成,由环境领域学者Paul J.Crutzen和Eugene F.Stoermer于2000年创建,用于代表自人类工业革命以来的地质时代。人类世自提出后,数年间即在学术界,包括我国第四纪研究领域的学者间,就其是否成立、如成立其下限如何确定等引发了广泛的讨论。2008年2月Zalasiewicz等21位伦敦地质学会地层委员会的成员联名在"GSAToday"上发表论文,从地层学概念上,尤其针对持反对意见或修改意见者提出的质疑点,就人类世这个地质时代的建立进行了全面论证,并对可作为人类世下限的标识提出了建议,正式把人类世概念推广到地球科学领域。Paul Crutzen,a Nobel Prize winner for his work on the ozone layer,along with Eugene F. Stoermer coined the term ＂anthropocene＂ in their paper （2000） to describe the current human-dominated geological epoch to supplement the Holocene. They believe that since the Industrial Revolution starting in the late eighteenth century humans have become a geologic agent comparable to natural agents and its impact on Earth has been so extensive and profound that it warrants the acknowledgement of a new geological epoch. Their proposal and the subsequent publications have successfully reached a diverse audience and caused intensive discussions and debates. Among the issues the validity of the new epoch and the boundary between the Holocene and the would-be Anthropoeene stirred controversies among scientists,including Chinese scientists. After years of discussing and debating,in 2008, a group of 21 members in the Stratigraphy Commission of the Geological Society of London on stratigraphical grounds presented reasons,particularly upon those being criticized during the past years, for setting up Anthropocene as the youngest epoch. They also suggested possible Holocene-Anthropocene boundaries, for the consideration of the formal adoption of the Anthropocene Epoch by the International Commission on Stratigraphy.
