摘 要:本研究旨在考察语篇因果连贯对中国英语学习者叙事语篇实时主题推理加工过程的影响。实验对象为64名非英语专业一年级本科生。研究采用2(阅读技能)×4(启动条件)因子设计,使用阅读时间法,以简短的叙事语篇为实验材料,以反应时为主要指标。研究结果表明:叙事语篇中心目的和故事结果间的相互作用对处于大学阶段的高、低阅读技能中国英语学习者实时主题推理加工均有促进作用。本研究也发现了叙事语篇因果连贯对高、低技能读者的某些不同影响。当语篇既没有中心目的又不含故事结果时,高技能读者对目标主题句的反应明显快于低技能读者。This study was designed to investigate the facilitative effects of causal coherence of a text on constructing the theme of a narrative text by Chinese EFL learners. The experiment was implemented among 64 first-year non-English major college students. The design was a 2 (skill) ×4 (priming) factorial. Response latencies were the main index,and brief narrative passages were used as stimulus materials in the experiment in which the reading time method was employed. The results demonstrate that the interaction between the central goal and the outcome of a narrative text facilitates thematic inference generation of both skilled and less skilled Chinese EFL readers at tertiary level. However,certain differential effects of the causal coherence of a narrative text are detected between skilled versus less skilled readers. Skilled readers respond significantly faster to thematic target sentences than less skilled readers do when the text has neither the central goal nor the outcome.
