摘　　要：回顾公共艺术在中国成长的短短一段历史,恐怕无论怎样评价、赞誉这种艺术的产生、表现和对当代城市环境艺术的贡献,都不会有过分之嫌。事实上,它风雨兼程的每一步历史足迹,都标示着吻合中国当代最大跨度的发展状态下的公共诉求。由此也整体地标示了目前我国城市空间艺术、环境艺术和景观艺术领域建设。Looking back at the short growth history of public art in China, it is no overstatement for whatever kind of evaluation or praise to the birth, performance and contribution of this art to the modem urban environment art. Consequently, it also indicates that China's current urban space art, environment art and landscape art construction have been developing toward internationalized high quality and standard at large,In the development history of new China's environment art, it always abides by the principles of 'based on people', 'basedon innovation'and 'based on environment'. Such phenomenon is especially outstanding in economically developed and fast-building cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tsingtao and Dalian, where an array of bright earthshaking works have been left for the current world.In a short period of less than 10 years, public art has been emerging. It was bom embracing the rotes of public appeal, surviving and developing in the midst of public appellations. This route has bitterness and hardships, however it is the only way for the development of public art.It is only several years since the occurrence of public art in China. People generally think that public art is the art in public places, referring to the artworks setup in public space, including various means and techniques like sculpture, craft, calligraphy, photography, and painting, etc.More co-operations like OCT and the Art Gallery are expected from all over the country, so as to build more presentable 'test fields', making a solid foundation for today's and future level and quality enhancement of 'public art' cause. If more ecospheres like OCT can be seen in more cities and communities of China, our efforts are not in vain.
