摘　　要：文章在介绍了地理信息系统（ＧＩＳ）的特征之后，从ＧＩＳ的特点与城市地质灾害基本要素的空间性特征间存在的相似性出发，讨论了ＧＩＳ用于城市地质灾害的必要性和可能性；结合实例，阐述了ＧＩＳ在城市地质灾害研究中的应用现状；目前ＧＩＳ技术应用的缺点和发展前景，反映ＧＩＳ和城市地质灾害研究结合的未来方向。The paper starts by giving a review of GIS technology,and then stresses its potential for using in the study of Urban Geological Hazards That the essential aspect of GIS is the concept of location as the basis for information systems naturally fits with the study of Urban Geological Hazards concerned to some extent with entities that can be referenced by geographic location The examples elucidated in the paper show the status of GIS applications in this aspect The limitations and prospects of GIS are then discussed
